Colonel Travis sent a message

To Jim Bowie yesterday

He said, "Tyranny is approaching

And we must keep it at bay"

But Bowie's new knife business

Wasn't doing very well

The annual flu virus

Left less customers to sell

"Go get the federal forces

To fight this war at home

It's in the Constitution

They protect against our foes"

Colonel Travis sent a message 

To Davy Crockett yesterday

He warned of the encroachment

That the tyrant comes his way

But after leaving Congress

Crockett lived the leisure life

Why should he fight in another state

And go back to toil and strife

"My next project is to build

Wooden ships for far away

We'll guard the shores of somewhere else

While ours is on display"

What happened to you, Texas

You started out so brave

You saved the entire country 

From us all becoming slaves

Now you fight your battles

For a land not of your own

It's government abrogation 

And the time comes to atone
