Too Big to Hide

I was watching the US play Iran in basketball at the Olympics.  It reminds me why there are no “Join the military” commercials during the station breaks, although these same repetitive advertisements permeate the airwaves during the NBA and NFL games.  The only commercial content similar for all of these games are athletes pushing (legal) drugs; but the Olympians are even more shameless.  Their jobs don’t usually pay as well, so get it while you can, and use your own disease for profit.      

It must be difficult to compete against someone whose family members have been killed in your name for no good reason.  Save the “Support the troops” spiel for after the Olympics.

The trauma bombs keep dropping here at home.  I can’t help but think the mental issues that Simone Biles is dealing with has something to do with the monster that sexually abused her.   

In spite of it all, I like the Olympics.  It reveals the evolution of the human body as world records continue to be broken all the time.  If only the same could be said for the advancement of the human spirit.

Watching the comradery with athletes even between those of other nations gives me a good feeling inside, like we still have a chance.  Our common enemies are the governments preparing their next event under cover of these games. 

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the moratorium on paying back the bankers is drawing to a close.  Their trillions fed back to them at taxpayer expense in the form of bailouts early on can’t last forever.  Now their enforcers are going to throw people out into the street resulting in becoming a bonafide Third World Country. 

If the Olympics ever make it back to America, the dark social and economic underbelly may be too big to hide behind the false-front pageantry of the Games.
