I harbor a deep wish that this society will be almost wiped out, with the survivors creating a new era of service-to-others. That way the specter of the apocalypse trigger of choice, be it a Yellowstone supervolcano, a pole shift, asteroid storms, whatever, does not bother me so much any more. I am a lot less sentimental.
